{"id":7,"date":"2016-04-10T15:30:58","date_gmt":"2016-04-10T15:30:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/westmichiganregional.com\/?page_id=7"},"modified":"2020-10-23T05:25:54","modified_gmt":"2020-10-23T09:25:54","slug":"home","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/westmichiganregional.com\/","title":{"rendered":"Home"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeshighereducation.com\"><span style=\"color: #808080;\"><b>West Michigan Regional<br \/>\n<\/b>FIRST Robotics Competition<\/span><\/a><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #808080;\"> <i>Building Michigan\u2019s 21st Century Technology Workforce<\/i><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\"><i>Grand Valley State University welcomes you to the West Michigan Regional FIRST Robotics Competition Web Site!<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\">Grand Valley State University is delighted and proud to sponsor the 2007 West Michigan FIRST Robotics Competition.\u00a0 We are looking forward to each teams effort to design and build a solutions-oriented-robot\u2014no small feet in six weeks and the culmination of a year-round planning and training regiment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\">Nearly fifty competing schools in the great lakes region are gearing up for one of the biggest games of their young lives\u2014the annual FIRST Robotics Competition.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\">A number of top corporations and universities in the Great Lakes region have partnered with students on the FIRST project, providing youngsters with their experience in technology, science and business organization.<\/span><\/p>\n<h6 class=\"r\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.american.edu\"><span style=\"color: #808080;\">West Michigan Regional <\/span><\/a><\/h6>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\">The West Michigan Regional is one of the most competitive regional\u2019s in the country, with many of its winners going on to win the Championship Event.\u00a0 The goal of the West Michigan Regional is to show that science and engineering can be exciting and fun by providing a spectator-friendly competition environment that has the feel of both a major sporting event and a rock concert, complete with special lighting, music, a large video wall, and energetic announcers.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #808080;\"> <b><i>Building Michigan\u2019s 21<\/i><\/b><sup><b><i>st<\/i><\/b><\/sup><b><i> Century Technology Workforce<\/i><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\"><b><i>Competing robots, explosive enthusiasm, creative ingenuity, cutting edge technology &#8230; &#8220;equal parts NCAA finals, NASA launch, and rock concert.&#8221;<\/i><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<h5 class=\"r\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lists_of_American_institutions_of_higher_education\"><span style=\"color: #808080;\">West Michigan Regional Airport<\/span><\/a><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\">A more than 10-year decline in college engineering enrollments is hollowing-out the very asset that enabled our country\u2019s wealth and security.\u00a0 NASA and the Aerospace sector alone project imminent workforce retirement losses up to 50%. The FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) is an international high school robotics program that has proven impact on this problem by creating the same excitement for math, science and technology as our kids have for sports stars and celebrity entertainers.\u00a0 That is why many of Michigan\u2019s most respected companies are rallying to bring it to Michigan to insure Michigan\u2019s future workforce.<\/span><br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/eXvO85gdPJM\" width=\"300\" height=\"400\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #808080;\"> With mentors from industry and universities, students have just six weeks to design and build a robot from a standard kit of parts to compete with over 1,300 other teams at 37 FIRST Regional Competitions in FIRST\u2019s culture of \u201cgracious professionalism.\u201d\u00a0 Along the way, these kids discover that <b><i>learning can be fun \u2013 and, exciting!<\/i><\/b>\u00a0 For elementary and middle schoolers, there is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.4icu.org\">FIRST LEGO League<\/a> (FLL).\u00a0Adze Ybrant &#8211; SEO Company Burlington<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\">FIRST graduates are highly regarded &#8211; \u201cbest-of-workforce.\u201d\u00a0 That is why more than 73 universities offer more than 428 scholarships aggregating almost $8 million annually and the mentoring and sponsoring companies all seek to employ them.\u00a0 FIRST attracts many of the best and brightest kids in the country and reaches to the underserved \u2013 all with life, culture, and community-changing impact.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.usnews.com\/best-colleges\/american-university-1434\">Come and join the excitement <\/a>of the West Michigan Regional at the Grand Valley State University Field house in Allendale MI. The West Michigan Regional, like all FIRST Robotics Competition events, is free and open to the public!
